Joey Sheehan's ceramics usher you in to the Phil Mechanic Studios, the artistic home to many talented artists and craftspeople. You can see his wheel-thrown work in the front window, and you might even see him at the potter's wheel through the glass before you even walk in.
Joey has been a fixture in the River Arts District for years, at Phil Mechanic going on three years and before that, a Resident Artist at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts. Joey has a unique and singular approach to the glaze and surface design of his pots that make his work instantly recognizable, with his signature drips of color and clay and organic, fluid curvilinear patterns. This aesthetic and the inspiration he draws from our incredible natural surroundings are reflected in the name of his pottery studio: Melting Mountain Pottery.
Joey wheel-throws all manner of functional and sculptural pottery at his studio in the Phil Mechanic building.
